Students who have earned an MBBS degree from foreign universities by mandate have to appear a screening test conducted by Medical Council of India (MCI). It is also called FMGE or Foreign Medical Graduate Examination. The examination is conducted twice a year, however, there is no restriction on the number of times one can sit for the examination.

MCI has made it mandatory that the students who want to study abroad should pass the MCI screening test and possess eligibility certificates. This certificate acts as a guarantee that the foreign university is MCI eligible and the MBBS graduate is capable of treating patients.

As per the guidelines provided by National Eligibility cum Entrance Exam (NEET), the upper age limit for the general candidates is 25 years and for the students belonging to the special categories like Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, and Other Backward Classes is 30 years. To appear for the NEET, the student should at least be 17 years of age with a proper higher Secondary Degree. It is necessary to qualify NEET to study at a foreign university. Hence, all MBBS aspirants have to comply with the age limit.
